Museum & Gardens possesses the largest representative collection of
Imperial Russian fine and decorative arts outside Russia. Displayed in
the former home of its collector and founder, Marjorie Merriweather
Post, Russian objects are combined with eighteenth- and
nineteenth-century French and European decorative arts, much as they
would have been arranged in the imperial estates and palaces of the
Romanovs. Created to prepare the public for a visit to Hillwood, this
film includes interviews with Post family members and the staff of
Hillwood. It traces Mrs. Postís development as a collector, and it
explores the magnificent spaces and works of art found at Hillwood, a
twenty-five acre landscaped estate located in Northwest Washington,
D.C. (15 minutes, col., Super 16 (Hi-Def), 2000).
